 A few Clay residents in the southwestern area of the city live in Chalkville Elementary School's attendance zone. Although the school is outside the city, it serves the city well by providing a good education for grades K-5. Principal Rod Johnson is known for his ability to motivate students to excel using many fun activities.
Enrollment averages around 1,250 students. The school also offers reading coaches to help students who struggle with this very important skill.
Chalkville Elementary offers Before School Care for a fee, and many day care services pick up students from the school in the afternoon.
In the 2008-2009 school year, the nurse at Chalkville Elementary was recognized for her outstanding service.
