Areas of Responsibility-
Councilman L.B. Feemster is the chairman of the Public Safety Committee. He also serves as mayor pro-tem. Feemster is a
voting member of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Personal-
My wife, Pat, and I have been residents of Clay since 1999.
Work-
I am retired as chairman and CEO of Attenta, a service company
that provides self-insurance programs to large clients. My
background experience includes insurance, civil engineering,
traffic engineering and safety engineering. Community service includes serving as a Birmingham auxiliary policeman and as volunteer chief of the Palmerdale Fire District.
I am currently a Clay Historical Society trustee.
Government Philosophy-
The best type of government is open, responsive and participative. I decided to seek election to the Clay City Council to provide that kind of leadership.
As promised during the campaign, I am working diligently to implement the following: Transparent, representative and responsive government.
Fiscal responsibility
A planning process for all aspects of city government including finances, land use, annexation, controlled growth and city facilities.
Development of Clay's four park properties to include activities and facilities for all ages.
I believe that my vision for our city is in line with the majority of its citizens and that is simply a community that provides a good quality of life with orderly, beneficial growth. Many cities have shown that growth and prosperity are achievable without sacrificing quality of life. I envision a community that is safe, clean and family-oriented; that not only maintains its small town character, but seeks to enhance it; that recognizes the importance of, and strives to protect, its natural resources; and that provides diverse recreational facilities, including green spaces. By working together and sharing views on priorities and long-term goals, city leadership and citizens can accomplish great things for the City of Clay. |
