The City of Clay Planning and Zoning Commission has three responsibilities:
- They design a plan for future development.
- They advise the city council on zoning ordinance changes.
- They create and enforce sub-division regulations.
This group depends on the hard work of the city's building inspector and city clerk in enforcing the regulations.
Recently, the group has been going through the city parcel by parcel, particularly those zoned agricultural, in plans to recommend changes to what use each parcel will likely have in the future.
Also, the group has discussed details of adopting SmartCode policies, which focus mainly on the look and structure of buildings rather than the use.
The group meet at the Clay Community Center on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.
Members of this commission are:
- Chairman Steve Sebastian
- Steve Ostaseski
- Robert Thompson
- Keller McKaig
- Eddie Box
- Mark Halstead
Councilman L.B. Feemster, Councilman Chuck McGuffie and City Clerk Bob Christmas also are members of this commission.
