City of Clay Planning and Zoning Commission

Recent Work:

The commission has been going through the city parcel by parcel, particularly those zoned agricultural, to have a more detailed land use plan.

The commission heard two cases in 2011, one for a drug store and one for an insurance office.

In 2011, the commission reviewed and updated the City of Clay Subdivision Regulations. To see a copy, contact City Clerk Bobby Christmas.

In 2010, the commission recommended a sign ordinance, which was approved by the Clay City Council. An oridnance summary was created as a quick overview of changes made from the previous sign ordinance.

Commission Function:
The City of Clay Planning and Zoning Commission has four responsibilities:

  • They design a plan for future development.
  • They advise the city council on zoning ordinance changes.
  • They create and enforce sub-division regulations.
  • They make recommendations on what properties should be annexed into the city.

This group depends on the hard work of the city's building inspector and city clerk in enforcing the regulations. Anyone wanting to change the use of property located in the Clay city limits should contact City Clerk Bobby Christmas.

The group meets at the Clay Community Center on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.
